1. Copyright Ownership

 

Upon acceptance and publication of a manuscript in the Journal of Modern Medical Science (JMMS), copyright is handled in accordance with the journal’s Copyright Transfer Agreement (CTA).

 

Where a Copyright Transfer Agreement is signed, full copyright ownership is transferred to the Kuwait Scientific Society (Publisher).

 

Where an Open Access license applies, authors retain copyright and grant the Publisher a publishing license as specified in the License Agreement.

 

The applicable model (CTA or Open Access License) will be clearly stated at the time of publication.

 

2. Rights of the Publisher

 

Where copyright is transferred, the Publisher retains exclusive rights to:

• Publish and distribute the work in print and digital formats
• Archive and index the work in databases and repositories
• Authorize reproductions and translations
• Grant permissions to third parties

 

These rights apply worldwide for the duration of copyright protection.

 

3. Author Rights (Where Applicable)

 

Authors may:

• Use the article for academic teaching and research
• Include the work in theses or dissertations
• Reproduce excerpts in future scholarly works with proper citation
• Share the accepted manuscript version in institutional repositories, subject to journal policy

 

Proper acknowledgment of the journal as the original source of publication is required.

 

4. Third-Party Content

 

Authors are responsible for obtaining written permission to reproduce any copyrighted materials (figures, tables, images, or text) not owned by them.

 

All third-party content must include appropriate attribution.

 

5. Permissions and Reuse

 

Requests to reproduce, distribute, or reuse content published in JMMS must be directed to the editorial office or publisher unless the article is published under a Creative Commons license permitting reuse.

 

Unauthorized reproduction or distribution may result in legal action.

 

6. Plagiarism and Infringement

 

JMMS maintains a strict anti-plagiarism policy. If copyright infringement or plagiarism is detected:

• The manuscript may be rejected
• The article may be retracted
• Institutions may be notified
• Legal action may be pursued where necessary

 

7. Archiving and Preservation

 

The journal ensures long-term preservation of published articles through digital archiving systems and DOI registration to maintain permanent accessibility.

 

8. Governing Law

 

Copyright matters are governed by applicable intellectual property laws and international copyright conventions, including those applicable in Kuwait.
