  1. Introduction

The Journal of Modern Medical Science (JMMS) invites high-quality scholarly submissions that contribute meaningfully to medical sciences, clinical research, and applied biomedical investigations. These Author Guidelines are designed to ensure clarity, uniformity, ethical compliance, and international publishing standards.

Authors are expected to read these guidelines carefully before submission. Manuscripts that fail to comply may be returned prior to review.

 

  1. Scope of the Journal

JMMS publishes original and impactful research in areas including, but not limited to:

  • Clinical and Translational Medicine
  • Public Health and Epidemiology
  • Biomedical Sciences
  • Applied Medical Research
  • Diagnostic and Therapeutic Innovations
  • Health Systems and Medical Education

The journal welcomes interdisciplinary research relevant to applied medical sciences.

 

  1. Manuscript Categories

3.1 Original Research Articles

  • Structured Abstract (≤250 words)
  • Word limit: 3,000–5,000 words (excluding references)
  • Maximum 6 tables/figures
  • Sections: Introduction, Materials & Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion

3.2 Review Articles

  • Structured or narrative abstract (≤250 words)
  • Word limit: up to 6,000 words
  • Critical synthesis of recent literature
  • Organized thematic sections

3.3 Case Reports

  • Abstract (≤150 words)
  • Word limit: up to 2,000 words
  • Clinical relevance required
  • Sections: Introduction, Case Presentation, Discussion, Conclusion

3.4 Short Communications

  • Abstract (≤150 words)
  • Word limit: 1,000–1,500 words
  • Concise findings of preliminary or focused studies

3.5 Letters to the Editor

  • No abstract required
  • Brief commentary or response
  • Word limit: ≤1,000 words

 

  1. Manuscript Preparation

4.1 Language

Manuscripts must be written in clear, professional English. Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to seek language editing prior to submission.

4.2 Formatting Requirements

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt
  • Line spacing: 1.5
  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides
  • Page numbering required
  • Continuous line numbering recommended

Tables and figures should be placed at the end of the manuscript or uploaded separately as instructed.

 

 

  1. Structure of Original Research Articles

 

5.1 Title Page (Submitted Separately)

Must include:

  • Full title (concise and informative)
  • Short running title (≤60 characters)
  • Author names and affiliations
  • Corresponding author details
  • ORCID iD (if available)
  • Word count
  • Number of tables/figures
  • Funding disclosure
  • Conflict of interest statement

To maintain double-blind review, the main manuscript file must not contain author identifiers.

 

5.2 Abstract

Structured abstract under the following headings:

  • Background
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusion

The abstract should summarize objectives, methodology, principal findings, and implications.

 

5.3 Keywords

Provide 4–6 keywords reflecting core themes of the manuscript.

 

5.4 Introduction

Clearly state:

  • Background context
  • Gap in existing knowledge
  • Study objectives or hypotheses

 

5.5 Materials and Methods

Provide sufficient detail for reproducibility. Include:

  • Study design
  • Setting and participants
  • Inclusion/exclusion criteria
  • Data collection procedures
  • Statistical methods
  • Ethical approval details

For clinical trials, registration number must be provided.

 

5.6 Results

Present findings logically and concisely. Avoid duplication between text and tables. Include:

  • Statistical results
  • Confidence intervals where applicable
  • P-values with appropriate precision

 

5.7 Discussion

Interpret findings in context of existing literature. Address:

  • Implications
  • Strengths and limitations
  • Future research directions

Avoid repetition of results.

 

5.8 Conclusion

Summarize key contributions and practical relevance without introducing new data.

 

5.9 Acknowledgments

Mention individuals or institutions that contributed but do not meet authorship criteria.

 

5.10 Funding Statement

Clearly disclose financial support and role of sponsors.

 

5.11 Conflict of Interest

All authors must declare potential conflicts.

If none exist, state:“The authors declare no conflict of interest.”

 

  1. Ethical Requirements

6.1 Human Studies

Must include:

  • Institutional Ethics Committee approval
  • Informed consent confirmation
  • Compliance with international ethical principles

 

6.2 Animal Studies

Must confirm adherence to recognized animal welfare standards and institutional approval.

 

6.3 Clinical Trial Registration

Mandatory for interventional trials.

 

  1. Authorship Criteria

Authorship requires:

  • Substantial contribution to research design, data acquisition, or analysis
  • Participation in drafting or revising the manuscript
  • Approval of final version
  • Accountability for accuracy and integrity

Gift or honorary authorship is prohibited.

 

  1. References

JMMS follows MLA 9th Edition citation style.

References must:

  • Be accurate and complete
  • Match in-text citations
  • Be formatted consistently

Authors are responsible for verifying references.

 

  1. Tables and Figures
  • Number consecutively (Table 1, Figure 1)
  • Provide clear titles and legends
  • Avoid duplication of data
  • Images must be high resolution (minimum 300 dpi)

Authors must obtain permission for reused materials.

 

  1. Submission Process

All manuscripts must be submitted through the online submission system.

Submission requires:

  • Title Page file
  • Main anonymized manuscript
  • Tables/Figures
  • Ethical clearance (if applicable)
  • Author declaration form

Offline submissions are not accepted.

 

  1. Peer Review Process

JMMS follows double-blind peer review. Authors must remove identifying information from the manuscript body.

The editorial decision may be:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

Authors must respond to reviewer comments point-by-point.

 

  1. Plagiarism Screening

All submissions undergo similarity screening. Manuscripts with unacceptable similarity will be rejected or returned for correction.

Authors are encouraged to verify originality prior to submission.

 

  1. Data Availability

Authors are encouraged to make underlying data available through repositories where feasible.

A data availability statement should be included when applicable.

 

  1. Artificial Intelligence Disclosure

If AI tools were used in manuscript preparation or data analysis, authors must disclose:

  • The tool used
  • The purpose of use

AI cannot be listed as an author. Authors remain fully responsible for content accuracy.

 

  1. Article Processing Charges (APC)

APC applies only after acceptance. Submission and peer review are free of charge. Detailed fee information is available on the APC page.

 

  1. Post-Publication Corrections

If significant errors are discovered after publication, authors must notify the editorial office promptly.

Corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions will be issued where necessary.

 

  1. Appeals

Authors may appeal editorial decisions by providing reasoned justification. Appeals are reviewed independently. Final decisions are binding.
