Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative technology in healthcare and medical education. AI-powered tools are increasingly being used to support teaching, learning, assessment, simulation training, and personalized educational experiences. The integration of AI into medical curricula has the potential to improve educational outcomes and prepare future healthcare professionals for AI-driven healthcare systems.

Objective

This study explores the integration of artificial intelligence in medical education, evaluates its benefits and challenges, and assesses perceptions of medical students and educators regarding AI-assisted learning.

Methods

A cross-sectional survey involving 650 medical students and faculty members was conducted. Data were collected using structured questionnaires assessing AI awareness, utilization, perceived benefits, barriers, and future adoption. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were performed.

Results

Among participants, 88.4% were aware of AI applications in medicine, while 72.8% reported using AI-based educational tools. Personalized learning (81.6%), rapid access to information (85.2%), and enhanced clinical simulations (76.4%) were identified as major advantages. Concerns included data privacy (61.8%), overreliance on technology (58.7%), and ethical challenges (54.9%).

Conclusion

AI offers substantial opportunities to improve medical education through adaptive learning, intelligent tutoring systems, simulation technologies, and automated assessment. Successful integration requires ethical governance, faculty development, and curriculum redesign to ensure responsible and effective use of AI technologies.
